What is body weight support system and why is it used?

A body weight support system is a piece of equipment that allows therapists to aid in the movement of walking for patients who are unable to walk independently or who need repetitious movement that simulates the motion of walking. This system uses a harness that supports the patient’s trunk and unweights the patient to allow for the therapist to aid in the motion of walking.
